Prospective purchasers of the Highlander have two unique engine options.

First up is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder. The default drivetrain on the base LE trim, this four-banger is rated at a respectable 185 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. It's offered with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

A 3.5-liter V6, meanwhile, is optional on the LE and standard on all other models. Outfitted with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the V6 is good for a glorious 295 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque.
