Meet the now Gazoo-worthy 86! Taking on the GR badge, is the Toyota's all-new 2022 GR 86, fully redesigned and re-powered.
The GR 86 will be offered in two grades; GR 86 and GR 86 Premium, with seven exterior color choices. Already known for its impeccable handling, this new gen design is aerodynamically improved, with a stiffer chassis and a larger (2.4L) naturally aspirated Boxer engine. The new engine delivers 228 hp @7000 rpm and 184 lb-ft of torque @3700 rpm to the rear wheels and can be paired with either a 6-speed manual, or 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters. Zero to 60 mph time is now 6.1 seconds on manual transmission models.
The all-new 2022 Toyota GR 86 sports some new, agreessive styling, including its low and wide stance, functional air inlets and brake cooling vents up front, available 18" alloy wheels, and a rear duckbill spoiler in back. Standard LED lighting features an available adaptive front lighting system on premium models.
Inside the cabin continues to be driver-focused. A new 3-mode digital instrumentation panel offers different designs for normal, sport and track modes. Deep bucket designed front seats include side bolsters to keep both driver and passenger secure during "serious" cornering. Nice design touches include leather accents on parking brake, shift boot and steering wheel along with leather trim on seats in premium models. Automatic climate control is standard, as is a 2 by 2 seating arrangement to accommodate backseat passengers, or fold the rear seats down to augment cargo capacity enough to carry a full set of tires on track day.
Safety and Tech
All grades of the GR 86 come with Toyota’s Star Safety System™, which includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist (BA). It also includes Smart Stop Technology® (SST), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Track Mode and Hill Start Assist Control (HAC). The Automatic Transmission version comes with active safety standard that includes Pre-Collision Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Lane Departure Warning, Sway Warning, Lead Vehicle Start Alert, Cruise Control and High Beam Assist.
Enjoy a newly available suite of Toyota Connected Services utilizing smartphone apps with multiple practical applications including remote door lock/unlock and remote engine start - a most appreciated feature to have during Phoenix summers. The interior cabin 8-inch touchscreen offers Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration plus two USB ports and one auxiliary port.
