We get a lot of questions about what certain automotive technologies and features are and, of all the technologies asked about, it's autonomous driving that's most difficult to completely explain. "Autonomous," in relation to vehicles, means "self-driving" and we already have some autonomous features in vehicles today; whether it's a parking assist feature or adaptive cruise control, it involves your vehicle doing some things on its own without your input. While earning a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is certainly an impressive accomplishment, vehicles normally only qualify for it at higher trim levels or when equipped with optional features.
